SINP Makes Major Changes to Popular Occupations in Demand List

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) has made changes to the popular Occupation In-Demand and Express Entry Occupation Requirements. These programs no longer have a set list of occupations that are eligible to use the programs. Instead, they now have a list of occupations that are ineligible to use the programs. This means that the number of occupations that can now use these programs has increased exponentially.

For these programs, if you meet their requirements you have to apply to them through the SINP website. The SINP will not come to you. The SINP charges a fee of $350 if you are invited to apply for a provincial nomination.

If you do not have a job offer from an employer in Saskatchewan, you need to have work experience in an eligible occupation” AND meet the professional status/licensure AND education requirements for that occupation in Saskatchewan.

You also need to meet the following minimum requirements in order to apply to the SINP:

  • Score a minimum of 60 points out of 100 on the SINP points assessment grid.
  • Have completed post-secondary education, training or apprenticeship that’s comparable to the Canadian education system of at least one year in length. You must have earned a diploma, certificate or degree.
    • For education obtained outside Canada, such as an academic or technical degree, diploma or certificate, you must submit an educational credential assessment (ECA) as per IRCC’s list of approved organizations.
    • Individuals who have completed trades or vocational training as part of their high school education are not required to submit an ECA,  but must instead apply for licensure.
  • Have at least one of the following in your field of education or training occupation:
    • One year work experience in the past 10 years in a skilled profession (non-trades);
    • Two years work experience in a skilled trade in the past five years; or
    • Twelve months work experience in Canada in the past three years (trades and non-trades).
  • Have proof of settlement funds and a settlement plan.
